Hillsmere Watershed Steward Planting Opportunity – Sunday, May 1

Join us for a positive, productive opportunity to make an environmental difference in Hillsmere. As part of the Watershed Steward Academy, we will be planting native grasses and herbaceous plants at 609 Beach Dr., the location of one of Hillsmere’s boat ramps. These plants will help absorb stormwater, demonstrate alternatives to lawn, benefit pollinators and add beauty.

Choose a 9:00AM or 10:00AM time slot. Parking is limited, so if possible, walk or ride your bike. We could make our fellow residents on Beach Dr. happy by not cluttering the street with cars. Why not reduce emissions and get some exercise at the same time!

See you on May 1st

Piers & Harbors Special Notice

P&H SPECIAL NOTICE

MARINA WATER SYSTEM OPERATIONAL!
The Marina Water System was activated on Monday March 21st, and a repair was made to a broken water line under A Dock on Wednesday March 23rd.

MARINA PUMP OUT SYSTEM OUT OF COMMISSION!
The Marina Pump Out System appears to be a late-discovered casualty of the October 30, 2021, flood tide. The electric motor apparently had water infiltration that led to corrosion and motor seizure while inoperational over the winter months. A replacement motor has been ordered.

ICE EATERS DEPARTING!
The Marina and Ramp ice eaters are scheduled to be removed, pressure-washed and stored for the season on Friday March 25th by Blue Heron Property Services.

HSIA Marina – Ice Eater Installation

ICE EATER INSTALLATION EVENT – SATURDAY DECEMBER 11TH AT NOON

Ice eater installation is now scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 11th at 12 Noon at the Marina.

A few good volunteers are needed to work in teams of two to place ice eaters in designated slips, tie them off and test run them.

The ice eaters will be pre-positioned (we hope) to make the job even easier.

The forecast for Saturday calls for cloudy, breezy, relatively balmy weather in the 60’s, with a chance of rain late in the day.

Please RSVP to [email protected] or 410-212-6978 so we can get an idea of the size of the work party.
