Two years have passed since construction started on the Hillsmere Sand Spit Living Shoreline/Coastal Resiliency Project, and now that the marsh grasses and conservation plantings are thriving and the goose fence string is coming down, it is time to celebrate Project completion and Cut the Ribbon!
All Hillsmere Residents are asked to please join HSIA, Arundel Rivers Federation, and all our Project Partners/Stakeholders to celebrate the completed Living Shoreline at the Hillsmere Marina. We will gather at the Marina on September 10th at 10 a.m. to savor light refreshments, toast the project, listen to remarks from community leaders and funding partners, including Delegate Dana Jones, and relish our beautiful, resilient connection to the South River.
We ask that Residents capable of walking or biking to the Marina do so, as Project Partners will have to drive in and parking is limited. Please RSVP to Mairin Corasaniti at Arundel Rivers Federation by emailing mairin@arundelrivers.org. They want to make sure there are plenty of refreshments to go around!
You can learn more about the Project on Arundel Rivers’ website under: “Restoration – Shorelines”.
