DESCRIPTION:The Anne Arundel County Fire Department will be holding a special fire safety talk for the Hillsmere Shores community on Wednesday\, March 1\, 2023 at the Eastport-Annapolis Neck Library on Hillsmere Road in the community meeting room from 7 – 8 p.m.  The Public Education Life Safety Specialist will be sharing what we can do as a community and homeowners to keep our homes safe from fire including home escape plans\, smoke alarms\, how to properly dispose of fireplace ash and many other fire safety topics.  There will be an opportunity for questions as well.  We hope to see everyone there.

DESCRIPTION:It’s that time again…time to Burn Your Socks! Please join your friends and neighbors on Sunday\, March 19\, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Community Beach to welcome the start of Spring with the Annapolis tradition of BURNING OF THE SOCKS! Hillsmere resident Jefferson Holland\, Poet Laurate of Eastport\, will be on hand to recite his Ode to the Equinox and Burning of the Sock. Due to the thick\, black smoke created by synthetic or polyester\, please only bring cotton or wool socks to throw on the fire. A limited amount of raw oysters will be provided\, first come\, first served. This event is lite rain or shine\, however\, heavy weather may cancel this event. Hope to see you there! \n
